We are delighted to officially invite you to Civics Learning Week: Civic Learning for a Stronger West Virginia, hosted by the West Virginia Civics Coalition. For our third annual Civic Learning Week Event, we present a dynamic, inspiring, and truly memorable morning of civic learning at our State Capitol, and we would love for you to be part of it.

Where: West Virginia Supreme Court, State Capitol
When: Wednesday, March 11, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

This event brings together educators, students, civic leaders, and community members who are passionate about strengthening democracy and civic education across our state. Attendees will experience a rich and engaging lineup of presentations and activities. And yes, attendees will enjoy a free lunch, too!

Participants will have the opportunity to engage with a robust range of presentations and experiences, including:

  • WV Legislative Policies
  • Teen Court
  • America 250 Celebration
  • WV Voting System
  • Listening Tour and Cords Program
  • Mock Appellate Court Argument
  • Black Policy
  • The 26th Amendment

We are honored to feature an outstanding group of presenters, including:

  • WV House Speaker Roger Hanshaw
  • Supreme Court Justice Thomas Ewing
  • George and Martha Washington
  • WV Secretary of State Kris Warner
  • Student Leaders Sarah McBee, Shelby Plants, Joshua Copley, and Maddox Davis
  • Woodrow Wilson High School Rho Kappa Chapter
  • Dr. Shanequa Smith, Restorative Actions

In addition to presentations, attendees will be able to take part in in-person tours of the Supreme Court Learning Center and a voting machine demonstration.
