As a pilot teacher, you’ll get:

• Access to full, standards-aligned, six-week unit covering the Constitution, Bill of Rights and constitutional principles with complete curriculum materials, lesson plans, and culminating media project resources before national release

• No-cost access to media-creation tools for engaging students’ critical thinking and media literacy skills while fostering civic participation.
• A stipend of $1,200

Eligibility Requirements

We are looking for classroom teachers who:

• Currently teach high school U.S. Government/Civics or middle school U.S. History.
• Can implement the full six-week unit in the first semester of the 2025-26 school year, including publishing most student projects to KQED’s Youth Media Showcase.
• Are excited about student-driven projects and podcasting as a form of civic expression.
• Are comfortable providing feedback to refine and improve the curriculum.
• Can participate in an online summer training institute (3 hours/day, June 16-18 OR July 21-23) plus two one-hour virtual check-in sessions during first semester
• Can submit short reflections along with student work samples and data, including results of a pre- and post-test.
• Are able to obtain administrative approval to teach the pilot unit.
