Civics Education for Everyone 2025
The West Virginia Civics Coalition held its second annual National Civic Learning Week event on March 13, at the Supreme Court, State Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV and by live stream to any location with Internet connectivity.
The event included presentations made by WV Supreme Court Justices, the WV Secretary of State, a State Board of Education member, and news media leaders.
Special presentations by students highlighted the event, including top officials from the Youth Leadership Association and We the People showcases by elementary and high school students.
Optional tours of the Supreme Court Learning Center and the State Museum were also available. Partial funding from iCivics.
Civics Education: Now More Than Ever
The West Virginia Civics Coalition celebrated National Civics Learning Week by hosting Civics Education: Now More Than Ever! at the WV Culture Center on March 11, 2024. This event was primarily funded by a grant from iCivics.
Students, teachers, education leaders, government officials, and other community members gathered from multiple counties across the state to listen to West Virginia leaders, watch a portrayal of Senator Jennings Randolph, get hands-on experience with voting machines, and participate in a Constitutional Scavenger Hunt in the West Virginia History Museum.
